POSITION/JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:  Custodian                                                                                                          

STATUS:  Part-Time, Hourly

SUMMARY:

Responsible for custodial duties church related facilities, grounds, vehicles and equipment.  Responsible for facilities preparation for church events.

 FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Functions/tasks

 Maintain all facilities and grounds to ensure that they are clean, attractive and well maintained inside and out

Maintain effective communications with coworkers, other segments of church operations, as well as with the community in a manner that will enhance harmony and unity

 Facilities:

Maintain ongoing custodial duties of the Church facilities, including cleaning and facilities readiness of the sanctuary, offices, classrooms, kitchen, and meeting places, consistent with quality housekeeping practices and Church policy guidelines.

Ensure facilities are appropriately presentable for all church functions, and meet or exceed community standards for appearance.

Unlock and secure the building before and after services and other activities.

 Grounds:

Assist in the ongoing maintenance of the Church grounds, consistent with quality grounds keeping practices and Church policy guidelines, ensuring that Church grounds are appropriately presentable at all times and meet or exceed community standards for appearance.

Equipment:

Maintain and keep in a ready state all Church equipment and tools in a manner that will maximize their usefulness.

Responsibilities

To discharge all duties associated with the affairs of Hillcrest Baptist Church with Christ centered integrity, honesty, accuracy, and efficiency

To collaborate and consult with the Operations Manager regarding potential new and improved methods of efficiency in the day to day workflow processes associated with Hillcrest Baptist Church custodial processes and procedures

To maintain strict confidentiality and integrity in matters pertaining to church members and/or church staff

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting

Reports directly to Operations Manager, and in the Operations Manager’s absence, to the Business Administrator

Performance

The Operations Manager performs the performance evaluation and in their absence, the Executive Pastor performs the evaluation

QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional

Ability to work with personal computers (energy management scheduling, and email software)

Ability to operate power equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and power tools

Attention to detail and ability to follow through on all tasks

Ability to safely lift at least 40 pounds.
