Worship Pastor Houston, TX, United States
In a small town church in Guatemala where a gravel & dusty road led to the church. At age 7 or so, the Holy Spirit was convicting me of sin on this particular time going to an evening service. And in the sanctuary I heard a clear message of Love: The Gospel. And I heard about this God who loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son. I wanted this Love. Then the preacher made an altar call, I responded to this LOVE that he was talking about. So when I went up front and knelt on the cold concrete floor. I repented of my sins and accepted My LORD & Savior Jesus Christ into my heart. And something like a blanket of Love covered me as I wept kneeling down on that floor. Later I got up. So New. So clean. Transformed. With New Life. And haven't been the same since, He made His home in my heart. I thank God for Salvation and the Holy Spirit who fills my life with all that I need. Glory be to God!! Ministry Testimony I visited a church plant in Arlington, Texas from Lakewood Church Youth Pastors; son-in-law Gary and daughter April of John & Dodie Osteen. After a couple of visits, at age 19 I moved cities to serve there. And led worship for the young adults college/career ministry. Through the seven years I was there I attended Christ For The Nations where I obtained a Bible Theology degree and a minor in Music. I later attended Dallas Baptist University, where I received my undergraduate degree in Business Studies. Later I started a Master's degree in Worship Leadership (not yet completed). Throughout this whole process I kept on leading worship. I was privileged to lead/pioneer the DBU acoustic worship nights. Sounds like this (this led by student Eli Simon) https://soundcloud.com/elisimon/dbu-thursday-night-worship Which was totally student born/student led worship. God did amazing things there. Then in 2008, I moved back to Houston where I got to lead the Spanish congregation as well the English congregation in a local church. Also as a major side note, this is where I met my lovely and beautiful bride, Stephany. There, worship leader & friend; we got to write & use several of the songs that came while we were there. They sounded like this: Be My Light (feat. Daniel Castaneda) http://danielcastanedamusic.reverbnation.com/#song-25750892-be-my-light Hallelujah, God Is Great (Acoustic Spanish scratch track w/ click feat. Daniel Castaneda) https://www.dropbox.com/s/vvqilnfpgpgzfxb/Hallelujah%2C%20Dios%20Grande%20Es%20%286min45%29.mp3?dl=0 Later I moved back to Dallas studied a bit in Gateway Church's Worship Academy to go & lead worship at Stillwater Community Church in Rowlett, TX where I wrote a song called "Immersed" and led during several services there. Sounds like this: https://soundcloud.com/danielcastaneda/immersed After a few years in Dallas with my family. We moved back to Houston where we currently reside. Attending Lakewood Church and loving Jesus as best we know how. Enjoying every moment of this wild adventure with Him & living the dreams He has in store for us! This is why I believe I am ready and willing to serve as a worship leader and raise up other worship leaders who as well can carry the fire of God and lead the Nations into Worship. Statement of Faith & Theology My statement of faith & theology is a representation of who I am in Christ as His son and what I decree to be true according to the Word of God my Father. For me the Apostle’s Creed has stood the test of time and aligns perfectly with God’s Holy Word which was divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. This statement of faith from the Apostle’s Creed is what I believe deeply; and makes me who I am. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, The Holy Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Self-Care There are many ways I do take care of myself & stay healthy spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, & professionally. Here they are in no particular order: 1) Staying healthy spiritually for me means making sure I'm free and clear of offense. And where I give no foothold to the enemy. I'm constantly praying and listening to God. Daily in His Word as much as possible. 2) Emotionally healthy for me means that I am NOT led by my feelings. But am able to surrender them to the Holy Spirit as much as possible. Making sure I am able to process all my emotions with as much accountability as possible. 3) Physically healthy for me means that I try and stay active as much as possible. Swim, walk, run. And eat the appropriate portions at the appropriate times. 4) Relationally healthy for me means prioritizing the people that matter most to me. That being my immediate family (wife & kids) first. Then parents, friends, & extended family as well. 5) Professionally healthy for me means that in every place I work at, I always leave the same way I want to enter the next. With a spirit of excellence that raises others up to shine and be all that they can be.
